For my outside research assignment I went to Laughlin Memorial Hospital and spoke with Glen Mitchell, the PACS administrator.
Glen knows everything there is to know about PACS. I told him what I was doing my research paper on, and we talked for a
really long time about it.
I basically knew, before I spoke with Glen, what I wanted to say in my paper. After I talked with him, I had a whole
lot more. My paper is about how the PACS technology helps benefit patient care more than regular x-ray film. I knew of a
few basic things, but Glen told me many more that I had not even thought about.
Even though PACS has been around for a few years, Laughlin has had it for 4 years now, it is still fairly new. Therefore,
I was kind of having some trouble finding any really good sources for my paper. Glen, being the PACS guru that he is, had
plenty of journals for me to borrow and told me of other places I might look.
Overall, I felt pretty good about my paper before I talked with Glen, but now I feel even better. He is extremely knowledgeable
about the PACS world and he seemed very eager to talk to me about it. He was a lot of help and it was great talking with
him.
